Back Buddy and Theracane

The Back Buddy and Theracane are curved, plastic sticks with round protrusions scattered around them. They allow you to perform deep pressure (accupressure) massage by yourself to knotted "trigger points" anywhere they occur on your body. Deep pressure (accupressure) massage has been shown to be effective and is used by Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, and Massage Therapists in the treatment of muscle spasms and trigger points for pain management. Pressure applied to the muscles helps to maximize the flow of oxygenated blood to the muscles. This pressure aids in restoring muscle function by breaking up adhesions in muscle fibers and tendons. The increased circulation helps the muscle to work more efficiently. Also through using the Back Buddy or Theracane under direction of a doctor or physical therapist, you will gain a better body awareness of what causes your muscular pain. These units are best used in conjunction with a stretching program.
